Powers and Duties of Commission
The Design Review Board serves the Wilmington Commercial Historic District and other historic districts or landmarks designated by City Council. The Board has the sole responsibility for permitting the alteration, construction, preservation, restoration, reconstruction, rehabilitation, or demolition of any structure, signage, or landscaping within its jurisdiction. In addition to its other duties, the Design Review Board reviewed applications for façade changes to help building owners take advantage of the FY2004-06 Tier 2 Downtown Revitalization Grant that brought over $400,000 of investment into the Wilmington Commercial Historic District (H-1 zone).
