LOCATION – Airborne Road, Wilmington, Ohio

Pavement repairs are expected to begin on Airborne Road on Monday, April 11. These repairs require the contractor to remove and replace asphalt in locations that have suffered greater wear and need deep pavement replacement. Several areas throughout the corridor have been identified as needing deep pavement repair.

During this phase of the construction, motorists should expect lane closures, with either flagging or other temporary traffic controls in place.

After the pavement repair phase is completed, the contractor will begin milling and overlaying the entire corridor with a new layer of asphalt.

This project is approximately 3.5 miles long, stretching from SR 134 to SR 73. The work includes asphalt milling and overlay of three inches of asphalt, as well as full-depth repairs as needed, spot curb replacement and grading to enhance drainage. Guardrail repairs and improvements to the school zone are also planned.

The City of Wilmington is managing the project. Fillmore Construction is the contractor. The project is expected to be completed by the end of November 2022.

The City of Wilmington asks all motorists to continue being patient, reduce speed, and exercise added caution when traveling near work zones. Long delays are expected.
