City Planning Improvements to Pedestrian Crossings

The City of Wilmington, in cooperation with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) proposes to improve or establish pedestrian crossings at seven locations:

  1. Truesdell Street near Roy E Holmes Elementary School
  2. Locust Street near the municipal building and Fiesta Veracruz restaurant
  3. N. South Street near Galvin Park
  4. Nelson Avenue at the Luther E. Warren Peace Path
  5. S. South Street north of Linton Avenue
  6. Mulberry Street at the Luther E. Warren Peace Path
  7. Thorne Avenue at Wilmington High School/Alumni Field

The project is necessary to provide improved pedestrian safety. No new right-of-way will be required for the project. No environmental impacts are anticipated. Approximately 1-2 on-street parking spaces may be altered or removed at locations #2 and #5. Construction is currently scheduled to begin in the summer of 2023. There will be no detours during construction. Traffic will be maintained using single-lane closures and flaggers.

We welcome your questions and comments. To ensure the proposed project is viable and successful, The City and ODOT are seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental, and economic impacts of this proposed project.  To ensure your comments may be considered during project development, please submit them no later than October 14, 2022, via the information below.
