On behalf of the men and women of the Wilmington Police Department, welcome to our website!
With nearly 12,000 residents, Wilmington is the largest city in Clinton County. Wilmington has experienced an incredible growth in population over the last 10 years. Our city’s fabric is woven from two distinctly different threads. We strive to maintain the small town flavor that makes Wilmington attractive, despite the fact that we are centrally located between Cincinnati, Dayton, and Columbus. Wilmington’s unique situation requires our department to employ 21st century policing technology and tactics without shedding our “neighborhood cop” identity. To do this, we strive to hire and retain the highest quality police officers and non-sworn staff.
We are proud of our achievements in this community. As we continute to strive to meet the challenges of policing in the 21st century, we also work hard on the basic essentials of policing. Our bread and butter still lies with the day-to-day functions of our patrol and detective staffs, whose primary focus is crime prevention, traffic enforcement, investigating crimes, service calls, problem solving, and when necessary, apprehension and arrest.
