Reporting Property and Code Violations
The City of Wilmington strives to keep our city clean and properties up to code, however we do need the help of our citizens when addressing these issues. - Litter and Trash
- Junk Cars or RV’s
- Structural Issues- Roofing, Windows, Siding, General disrepair
- Damaged and Uneven Sidewalks
- Tall Grass (exceeding 10 inches)
- Overgrown Trees and Shrubs (on sidewalks, roads, etc.)
Understanding the Code Enforcement Process
The code enforcement process is generally initiated by a concerned resident reporting a possible violation. Approximately 90 percent of code enforcement cases are resolved by the property owner/responsible party following formal notification of the violations. When voluntary compliance is not obtained however, the city will pursue civil citations, criminal charges until the violations have been resolved.
