Powers and Duties of the Commission

Pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Section 124.40, the Municipal Civil Service Commission of Wilmington, Ohio is responsible for:

  1. prescribing, amending, and enforcing rules for the classified civil service positions of the city
  2. administering hiring examinations and preparing eligibility lists for vacant Civil Service positions
  3. appointments, promotions, resignations, removals, transfers, layoffs, suspensions, reductions, and reinstatement of Civil Service employees
  4. standardizing positions and maintaining efficiency within Civil Service.

The Civil Service Commission shall exercise all other powers and perform all other duties for the City as established by the Director of Administrative Services and the State Personnel Board of Review with respect to the civil service of the state.
